Current programmes

“Efficiency and Effectiveness for Change” NGO Development Programme

The goal of “Efficiency and Effectiveness for Change” NGO Development programme is to build and strengthen the capacity of the Bulgarian NGO sector to reach programmatic and financial sustainability.

The programme is financial supported by Civil Society Trust in Central and East Europe and Charles Stewart Mott Foundation for 2005 – 2006 period, and will be implemented in partnership of Workshop for Civic Initiatives Foundation (WCIF), Bulgarian Environmental Partnership Foundation (BEPF), Program and Analytical Center for European Law Foundation (PACEL).

The core areas of the programme are Building new capacities within NGOs, Stimulating business and income generating activities, NGO core costs funding, Professional development opportunities, Preparing NGOs to access EU and State funding, Good practices dissemination. They present the thematic scope of the program and the spheres of largest deficit of knowledge, skills and practices among NGOs. Within the framework of these issues and in order to address them in the most adequate manner, we have defined six groups of activities:

Training and Consultancy;
Implementation of a Capacity Building Fund;
Pilot Start of a Grant – Loan – Grant Mechanism;
Research and Promotion of New Approaches to Sustainability
Support for Professional Development;
Improving the Organizational Sustainability of the Partners.

According to Capacity Building area we developed two different programme components:
1) Basic skills in local resources mobilization – it is targeted to small nongovernmental organizations that are inexperienced in resource mobilization; to this programme component applied 85 organization from the country and 23 of them are selected to active participation;
2) Sustainable fundraising – it is targeted to organizations experienced in fundraising that want to develop their capacity in the field; to this component applied 46 organization and 14 of them are selected to participate into the programme activities.
